At the Titanic Museum in Belfast, I stood in somber reflection in front of an actual Titanic life vest; one of the few remaining artifacts of a night defined by tragedy.

The vest, filled with cork, was meant to save lives.  However, It had a fatal design flaw.  It did keep passengers afloat, but failed where it mattered most. It didn’t hold their faces above water.
